EBG MedAustron GmbH in Wiener Neustadt operates one of the most modern centers for particle therapy and research in Europe. Cancer patients are treated with an innovative form of radiation therapy with protons and carbon ions. In addition to cancer treatment the facility is also used for translational research.


Our Power Converters, Magnets and Infrastructure (PCMI) team is responsible for the design, installation, commissioning, debugging and upgrade of power converters, magnets and related infrastructure.

Magnet and/or Power Electronics Engineer (f/m/x)

full-time (40 hours weekly)

Challenges you conquer:

  • Be responsible for power converters and magnets for a proton/carbon particle accelerator facility, which involves:
    • Life-cycle management for power converters and magnets
    • Definition of requirements and related test procedures
    • Contribute to design and/or assembling of power converts and magnets
    • Procurement of components and follow-up with suppliers
    • Responsibility for unit acceptance tests and creation of test reports
    • Participation in the installation and commissioning into the particle accelerator
    • Responsibility for the technical documentation
  • Support and train our operation and service teams
  • Contribute to the integration and testing, which requires work outside normal business hours up to appr. 20% and on-call duty

A background that impresses:

  • Technical university degree in electronic engineering, electro-mechanical engineering or similar
  • A minimum of 3 years of occupational experience in electronic engineering
  • Ideally experience in one of the following fields: 
    • Design of normal conducting magnets (Opera Simulation Software) or
    • Power electronics (low voltage with high current)
  • Fluent in verbal and written communication in English. German is an advantage
  • You are a problem solver that is driven by a systematic approach and keeps the overview over different tasks
  • Team work is as important to you as a proactive and flexible mindset
  • Coordination skills and producing good documentation complete your profile
  • Willing to fulfill work outside normal business hours, on-call support and to do business trips inside and outside of Europe

For the advertised position we offer a gross annual salary from € 44.000,-- (on a full-time basis) with the possibility of overpayment, depending on professional qualifications and experience.
